The First Step to Leveling Up Your Wedding Bookings

Alright, florists, let’s talk real talk.
If you’re out here wondering why you’re still getting inquiries for champagne taste on a beer budget weddings, it’s not because your work isn’t good enough. It’s because you haven’t done the stuff that actually moves the needle.
Here’s what I did that actually worked (and yes, it took time, patience, and a bit of gritting my teeth through the cricketsphase):
1. Got painfully clear on my business goals.
I stopped playing the “whatever comes my way” game and actually mapped out:
💰 How much I wanted to earn.
🗓 How many weddings I wanted to take per year.
📍 Where I wanted to work.
🌸 The exact style of weddings I wanted to do.
And guess what? That clarity changed everything.
2. Figured out who the hell my ideal client actually is.
Spoiler:
Someone who trusts me, has a big budget, and likes flowers” is NOT an ideal client avatar.
I got super specific about:
🔎 What they value.
⚡️ What frustrates them about wedding planning.
💭 What they’re afraid of.
🎯 What they actually want from their florist.
If you don’t know this stuff? Your marketing is throwing darts in the dark.
3. Styled a shoot to SHOW what I wanted to be booked for.
Not what I had been booked for. What I WANTED to be booked for.
Because newsflash: people book what they see.
4. Shifted my brand positioning.
❌ Ditched the directories that were sending me budget-conscious leads.
✅ Invested in places that actually aligned with my new audience.
💎 Started presenting my work in a way that looked high-end and exclusive.
5. Gave my website a total glow-up.
Not just a cute refresh—a full-on transformation.
Hired someone who actually knew what they were doing, invested the money, and let my site do the heavy lifting of converting the right clients.
6. Marketed like crazy.
📢 Posted every single bloody day.
💬 Talked to my audience like I actually wanted to connect with them (not just like I was shouting into the void).
🎯 Made sure every single piece of content was speaking directly to the clients I wanted to book.
7. Built relationships with vendors who had my ideal clients.
Photographers, planners, venues—these people hold the keys. I made sure I was top of mind for them.
8. Raised my minimum spend.
🚩 This is a huge red or green flag for your clients. It immediately tells people whether you’re the right florist for them before they even inquire. It also sets the expectation for your pricing without you having to say a word.
9. Optimised my client experience.
What clients expect at $7K is vastly different from what they expect at $30K.
💎 I upgraded my entire system.
📩 Overhauled my communication process.
📑 Streamlined proposals & contracts.
✨ Made the whole process feel seamless and luxurious.
Because when you’re charging premium prices, you need a premium experience to back it up.
10. Stuck. It. Out.
I knew this shift would slow inquiries at first. I didn’t get a single one for an entire month.
And yet, I held the line. Because when the right clients did start coming in, they were dream clients, booking dream budgets, with dream trust in my work.
Moral of the story?
- You can’t expect $30K inquiries when you’re still operating with a $7K mindset.
- People book what they see, so show them the work you want to be doing.
- If you want different results, you have to actually do something different.
Wanna know the actual first step I did? Deciding I was going to do it, not wait around and hope it happens. Struggling to book dream clients? Let’s fix that. Work with me.
